The Rt Hon Dame Caroline Dinenage announced among Bacta Convention key notes

Bacta has confirmed that The Rt Hon Dame Caroline Dinenage, Chair of the Culture, Media & Sport Select Committee and MP for Gosport, will be among the key note speakers attending the trade association’s Annual Convention taking place on Thursday 28 November at One Birdcage Walk.
Caroline’s political career started in 1998, when she became the youngest ever member to serve on the City of Winchester district council. From there she went on to stand as the Conservative candidate for Portsmouth South in 2005, before securing a seat in May 2010 as Member of Parliament for Gosport, Stubbington, Lee-on-the-Solent and Hill Head.

Successfully defending the seat in the General Elections of 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2024, she has held various ministerial positions most recently as Minister of State at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport.

Welcoming her attendance, George McGregor Bacta’s Executive Director (Government Relations) said: ”We are delighted to announce Dame Caroline Dinenage as one of our key note speakers. This year has witnessed significant political and regulatory change and the Convention will take stock of how this impacts the amusement and gaming sector drawing on the experience and insight from key policy makers and politicians.

“Our overriding theme is ‘Going for Growth’ and Dame Caroline is a politician who understands the commercial world, in particular the challenges facing small and medium-sized businesses which are the backbone of Bacta.

“At just 19-years old she established a successful manufacturing company which she ran for more than two decades. Her passion for the SME sector earned her the accolade of Small Business Ambassador for the South and a seat on the Business, Innovation and Skills Select Committee.

“I am certain that her views on business will resonate with many members and I personally look forward to hearing her views on how government can help drive growth on the high street and in local communities.”

He added: “The Parliamentary Reception the evening before is now fully subscribed and we are working a waiting list. If members who have registered can no longer attend do be sure to let us know.”
