In response to recent negative media coverage, trade association Bacta has taken a strong stance to defend the Adult Gaming Centre (AGC) sector. Over the weekend, The Observer and Daily Mail published articles critical of the AGC sector, followed by a story in The Guardian today about the statutory levy. Bacta contends that these reports are based on inaccuracies and misrepresentations.
"The accusations in these articles are without foundation and many of the facts stated are plain wrong," a Bacta spokesperson asserted. The association has been proactive in addressing these issues, engaging directly with journalists to correct the record and provide detailed rebuttals.
Bacta's Chief Executive has also reached out to the Gambling Commission's CEO, urging immediate action to address the misuse of Gambling Commission statistics, which are part of the Gambling Survey of Great Britain being released this week. "We cannot allow misleading data to shape public perception unfairly," the Chief Executive emphasized in his letter.
Bacta remains committed to vigorously defending all facets of the amusement and gaming sector against unwarranted attacks, ensuring that the public and industry stakeholders receive accurate information.
