The Pub Summit – part of the thinkbite set of seminars held during EAG – was a massive hit. Presented by Peter Davis, Managing Director of Inspired Entertainment Inc., who serves as Chair of bacta’s Gaming Council, the seminar opened with an excellent presentation from Simon Barff, Managing Director of CLMS who shared some fascinating data with the audience collated from 30,000 pay to play machines in the UK market.
Simon told the audience – who could barely fit into the room – that the AWP/Cat C revenues had risen to above pre-pandemic levels probably as a result of the popularity of digital product and their large compendiums of games which are proving more attractive to players.
AWPs remain by far the most popular machine in pubs, commanding over 70 per cent of the market share in managed pubs and around 30 per cent in tenanted, with pool tables the second most popular followed by jukeboxes.
Simon shared his most asked questions which included – what is the impact of App play and what is the impact of adding age verification on digital machines. The answers to these questions was nuanced and continued in the panel session which involved Nick Rudd, Managing Director of the Rudd Group, Chris Black Managing Director of Sound Leisure, Quentin Stott, Managing Director of Reflex Gaming and Pauline Bass, Director of Customer and Guest Experience at Stonegate Pub Company.
Excerpts from what the panellists had to say are included in the video below.
